The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk puts a Trail Rated badge on a hybrid SUV, and it gives Nova Scotia shoppers a clear picture of where the nameplate is headed. Gravel roads, back-country trails and a daily commute all sit within its reach.
This overview covers what is confirmed about the Trailhawk, from its hybrid system to its off-road hardware and cabin.
What Is Confirmed About the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk
The Trailhawk is a four-door, five-seat sport-utility vehicle on the STLA-Large unibody platform. It is built at the Toluca Assembly Complex in Mexico, enters production later this year, and Canadian customers will be able to place orders later this year.
Power comes from a 1.6 L turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid. The engine makes 177 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, and the full hybrid system makes 210 hp and 230 lb-ft. It runs on regular 87-octane fuel, and the Jeep brand estimate is 7.5 L/100 km combined.
A power-split eCVT handles the gearing. The 400-volt, 1.08 kWh battery recharges through brake regeneration.
Trail Rated Hardware That Comes Standard
On the Trailhawk, the off-road gear is not an option sheet. It is the vehicle. Jeep Active Drive II with Lock Mode, an electronic locking rear axle and a two-speed power transfer unit are all standard.
The transfer unit has a 2.92 low range and a 37.5:1 crawl ratio. That lets you climb steep, loose or rocky ground without riding the brakes. Selec-Terrain adds Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock modes.
Underneath, steel skid plates protect the front axle, wiring and fuel tank. A separate plate shields the hybrid battery. Those plates matter on a hybrid, because the battery is the part you least want to scrape.

The off-road suspension carries a 1-inch (2.5 cm) lift with unique spring and damper tuning, which adds 45 points of Ramp Travel Index over other Cherokee models. The 245/65R17 Nexen all-terrain tires sit on 17-inch wheels. Red tow hooks at the front and rear, a gloss black upper fascia and an anti-glare hood graphic mark the exterior.
What Matters for Everyday Use
The Trailhawk is not a trail-only machine. The cabin seats five, with 977 mm of second-row leg room. Cargo space measures 835.1 L behind the second row and 1,760.7 L with the seats folded.
Loading is easier than the ride height suggests. The liftover height is 918 mm, and the foot-activated power liftgate opens to 1,149 mm wide and 613 mm high at its maximum.
Towing tops out at 1,587 kg, which is 3,500 lbs (1,587 kg), and it needs the optional Trailering Package. Payload is 363 kg, so factor in passengers and gear.
The standard equipment list is long. You get a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, LED headlamps and taillamps, fog lamps and memory seating. Power heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are also standard. Mantis Green upholstery with red accent stitching and a Radical Red bezel around the shift dial give the interior its own character.
Three Optional Packages
The Sun and Sound Package adds a dual-pane sunroof and a Premium Alpine Audio System. The Trailering Package unlocks the tow rating above.
The Advanced Pro Tech Group adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, front and rear camera washers and a 360-degree camera. For muddy trails and tight parking spots, that camera set is the one to look at.
Ordering the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk
Orders open to Canadian customers later this year. Until then, the confirmed specifications above are the best guide to what the Trailhawk delivers.
The Cherokee Trailhawk Is the Hybrid Built for Nova Scotia Trails
The Trailhawk pairs a 210 hp hybrid system with a low-range transfer unit, a locking rear axle and skid plates, and it still seats five with 835.1 L of cargo room behind the second row. That is a full off-road kit in an efficient package.
